Help:Contents
(Todo: categorizing issues by magazine, which may involve a bob template)
The bare minimum
To create a page, first you should have:
- A scan or photo of an issue's table of contents page, at least mostly readable
- The name of the magazine, the issue number (if it has one), and the date of the issue
Step 1: Upload the table of contents page(s). The filename must start with the name of the magazine, and it should include the date or issue number, preferably both.
Example: Famitsu 0381 1996-04-05 toc.jpg
Step 2: Create a page with the name in this format:
(todo, but Famitsu Issue 0381 (1996-04-05)
is fine, gonna play with some other issues and formats before I commit)
Step 3: At minimum, a page needs:
- {{start}} at the top of the page (unless you complete steps 4 and 5)
- an
Images for transcription
section at the bottom, containing all scans/photos of the issue's table of contents
At this point, you can save the page. The following steps can be done later, or by other editors.
Later steps
Step 4: Create an empty table for each section of the table of contents.
Title | Page |
---|---|
{| class="wikitable sortable" |- ! Title !! Page |- || || |}
Japanese | English | Page |
---|---|---|
{| class="wikitable sortable" |- ! Japanese !! English !! Page |- || || || |}
Step 5: Fill the empty table with placeholders {{transcribe}} or {{unreadable}}. (For non-English, don't add {{to-en}} yet)
(When you get to this point, you can remove the {{start}} from the page)
Step 6: Wherever you see a {{transcribe}} placeholder, inspect the scan/image of the table of contents and replace the placeholder with that text. If the text is non-English, then in the next column add a {{to-en}} placeholder where the translated text can go.
